American Idols Concert---Our Recap

July 31, 2007
American Idols LIVE Concert
at the EnergySolutions Arena
So the first concert WE have ever attended TOGETHER wasn't U2 or Celine Dion or Boys II Men or anything of the legendary status.... But, people, AI LIVE was a decent, CLEAN, and quite entertaining show! (Especially when we saw and met a guy who was wearing a "I paid $600 to see Sanjaya" t-shirt, completing the ensemble with the trademark ponyhawk.)
I convinced Mark to get in line for the free pic of us on the "AI TV GUIDE Red Carpet" (pictured above), so now we have proof that we were there to enjoy our annual night out without the kids....it only comes once a year, folks, so it has to be memorable and unique! The highlight for me was Lakisha belting out a classic Whitney Houston hit (I Will Always Love You) with perfection. I was also awkwardly surprised at how Sanjaya managed to do an OK performance...emphasis on the PERFORMANCE and not on the actual singing. Mark had to admit that he was impressed by Blake's performances and Lakisha's perfect Whitney tribute. Of course I have to mention my girl Melinda...she's got rock solid talent and I know I'm going to hear more about her in the future... She did an awesome number with Lakisha... true black sistas (am I allowed to say that?) Also, I was taking copious mental notes of Blake and Chris Richardson's wardrobe, as that is how Mark would like to dress someday, given the money. Gina was in tons of performances and I began to like her style more and more....we'll see how far she goes with this music biz. Phil Stacey was quite the entertainer and Hailey, well, she was very pretty in her cute outfits, and was ok. But the show couldn't be complete without Jordan's performances, which almost got me choked up, if I hadn't been munching on Papa John's Pizza and sucking down some 7-Up....my gall-bladder-less digestive system was kicking into overdrive, but I managed to concentrate on the perfection of Jordan's performances. She is AMAZINGLY talented and sounds even better live than on television. The famous "I Who Have Nothing" number was awesome and I couldn't believe that she was only 17 years old....That's a wrap... and if Mark asks---NO I DO NOT have a crush on Chris Richardson...just on his voice. Thanks.
