O Canada | Our last Canada Day in Canada...for now

Meeting Sparky: apparently, despite our attempts to get the girls to look at the camera, they would rather look at all the people walking by.
that's right. give me some of that cake! it's was sooo good. the frosting wasn't too thick and too rich like you usually find with these type of grocery store cakes. and for a sweet tooth like myself and the kids, it did the trick. plus i'm pregnant, so i pretend like i can treat myself to things like this, hoping that most of the calories will go to the baby. yeah, right.
we've spent 4 Canada Day celebrations up here in Alberta, but this year's was our last. at least for now. for the first 2 celebrations, mark had to work, so it didn't feel too festive for me. however, the last 2 were great, since we were able to spend time with our little family and sincerely celebrate the blessings of living in a free land. i paid extra attention to the words spoken by the mayor of our city this year, as he delivered a short patriotic address during the city's Canada Day celebration. one thing i can personally vouch for is his claim that Canadians are world-renown for their "kindness, generosity, & humility." i agree wholeheartedly. that has definitely been our experience. thank you, Canada, for adopting newcomers like myself and my children these past 4 years. we may have been frozen cold for the majority of the time, but it has been a truly "warm" experience ;)

What a great post. If it wasn't a tundra there, I would totally move there just because of your words.
